About Me
Hi, I’m Tara, a researcher and designer from Meanjin (Brisbane), Australia. I create plant-based whole food recipes and share snippets of my life and travels here and on Instagram, Pinterest and TikTok.
I love to cook, the kitchen has always been my happy place. It’s long been a creative and therapeutic outlet for me to experiment and try new things (with varying degrees of success!), particularly since shifting to a plant-based lifestyle. This blog is a digital manifestation of my kitchen, where I can share those creations with you. All recipes are thoroughly tested by my friends and family before making their way here. I hope you love them as much as we do.
Food and Health Philosophy
I live my life by three philosophies: eat lots of plants, move your body and stay hydrated. I personally follow a plant-based wholefoods diet. This is a diet consisting mostly or entirely of foods derived from plants, including vegetables, grains, nuts, seeds, seaweeds, legumes and fruits, and with few or no animal products. All of the recipes found on The Plantry are plant-based/vegan and gluten-free to reflect the food that I feel helps me personally thrive. In saying that, all eaters are welcome here! The goal of The Plantry is to simply inspire you to add some more plants to your plate.
I would also like to acknowledge that there are recipes found on The Plantry that are from cultures that are not my own. Drawing on my career as an academic researcher, I treat each recipe as if it were a research paper through: learning about the culture and the recipe, identifying and acknowledging the sources of my inspiration for the recipe, and including ways in which you can learn more by linking to creators who create similar recipes and who are from that culture. Through each recipe, my aim is to highlight my appreciation for the food and the culture the food has come from.
